Amanor employees are unionized under the Moroccan Labour Union (UMT) and are subject to a collective agreement (CBA) signed in November 2017. This CBA was violated in October 2019 when management questioned the payment of the shift rotation advantage of 571 dirhams (57 $US). The following month, management halted payment of 250 dirhams (25 $US) transport capacity, at a time when negotiations for a new CBA had progressed. WHAT STEPS NEED TO BE TAKEN? • National mobility is covered by an employment contract signed with the worker`s new company. • The parties agree on a transfer contract setting out all the conditions of departure and arrival. The agreement is signed by the human resources department of the employee`s home company, the company he or she goes to, and the employee. • The collective agreement and other local agreements, laws or regulations applicable in the new company apply from the first day of the employee with his new company. The intervention and mediation of the governor of Tangier and the national UMT did not stop the anti-union attacks of the leadership. The general secretary of the union at the company level was dismissed without reason on 20 January, resulting in a permanent strike in all parts of the company and widespread protests. 8 May 2020500 Employees of Veolia`s Moroccan subsidiary, Amanor, will be deterred from granting state aid during the Covid 19 pandemic, as the employer refuses to declare workers to the National Social Security Office. Amanor, a subsidiary of the French multinational Veolia, active in the water, waste and energy services sectors, is responsible for collective redundancies, including of the union leader, non-payment of contractual benefits, an attack on the union and now a blocking of state aid to 500 employees due to the refusal of management to refuse workers during the 1998 social security pandemic, 1994, 1988 The benefit cuts were deemed illegal by the official labour inspector during a process in which the manager openly stated that he did not recognize Moroccan labour law.
